Post college graduation, Lisa worked for several large advertising firms and three of the major east
coast publishing houses: Arbor House, William Morris Company and Harper
& Row, in New York City. Lisa’s career took off because of
her talent and passion for art, photography, and film. By the early
1990s, Lisa opted to advance her career and move to Los Angeles, California.
Once in Los
Angeles little did Lisa, know that she would be making a
living watching cartoons while running an Animation Art Gallery! So
impressed with animation again and, all that went into its creation of a
cartoon, Lisa decided to write a book on animation art and the gentle
giants who brought them to life. While doing the interviews for
the book,
Lisa came up with another idea. She would find all of the surviving
animators from the 1920’s to present and organize not only the creation
of their handprints in large color cement squares but also
http://www.binkysart.com “The Pioneers
of Animation Commemorative Dinner” in 1994. She
spent many hours with these artists that never grew up,
learning about character development,
storyboards, timing, and where to put a gag. Prior to that, she had
written children’s books, short stories, television scripts, and created
children’s calendar.
Living in Hollywood, it only made sense that
Lisa would try her hand
at writing for the silver screen. As
a screenwriter, she is drawn to evoke emotional material while
incorporating spiritual and fantastic elements. As the lives of her
characters develop, they are initially known only to each other;
however, they some how revealed themselves in such a way as to
intertwine with the reader’s own characteristics. They have fears
and convictions that you and I can understand or, at the very least,
respect. There is always constant conflict and tension building.
Relationships between friends and co-workers are cut with an edge that
wonderfully creates the illusion that you, the reader, are experiencing
the event right along with them.
